Second painting commission of the summer is complete! 😀 Inspired by a view of Kootenay River this piece is trip down memory lane for my client and also a scene that is not too far from my own home. I … Continue reading
Summer is by far the most difficult time of year to apply oneself to indoor work! There are so many other things drawing you away from your studio art space… But I have finally managed to complete my first commission … Continue reading
I’ve been slow at producing paintings in the past months. Trying hard to spend more time with them, study more, focus harder. I’ve also been taking a look back at my older works for inspiration, trying to find something new … Continue reading
Finished up this little guy this morning. It’s inspired from a drawing I did a few years ago during some difficult health struggles. In my sketch book I titled the drawing ‘To See’ and I don’t quite remember why, something that made sense at the time, but now I think I’ll just call it ‘Seen’. A past tense – a feeling of finally being on the other side of it all. 🙂
This painting is available to purchase, contact me if you’re interested.
This painting is inspired by a series of photographs taken by a friend up at the summit in the Salmo-Creston area. People go hiking, snow shoeing and snow-mobiling up this mountain ridge and it’s absolutely stunning there in the winter with alpine trees draped in snow!
I haven’t done very many winter scenes and I rarely use such a limited palette so this painting is a stretch for me creatively. I actually started this canvas last year but was really dissatified. It was set aside for a LONG time before I revisited it and I wasn’t sure if I could redeem it. In the end I think I managed to mostly turned it around. However, now that it is finally spring I truly apologize for the winter reminder!
This painting is currently available – if you’re interested please contact me directly. 🙂
This new little one is a little bit of a departure from my usual rainbow bright colour palette but I really like the earthy tones here. It’s also a bit more detailed than anything I’ve done recently but I think that the details were a good direction and I had so much fun exploring the light and water reflections. This painting is available for sale and if you’re interested in seeing other paintings I currently have available please CLICK HERE!
This painting commission was slow in coming around but I think in the end the final touches came together at exactly the right moment for many reasons. I hope you enjoy taking a peek at the process here. I titled this 16″ x 20″ painting ‘A New Dawn’ it’s a spin off inspired from a previous painting I did called ‘New Light Study‘.
Happy New Year to you all! I hope your holiday season was full of goodness. I’m working through a couple of commissions at the moment and just finished this one today. A commission of Fisher Peak. There is a beautiful range of mountains in Cranbrook, BC, one that I had the privilege of viewing daily for 15 years, Fisher Peak is the highlight of that range. The funny thing is that I never painted those peaks until I moved away. This is only my second painting of Fisher Peak – the first one I did a few years ago and can be seen by clicking HERE. My client grew up in the Kootenays and has since moved away but has fond memories of Fisher Peak, Hence the title ‘Mountain Memories’.
Are you ready for Christmas? I’m no where near ready but I managed to squeak this commission in just in time to be mailed out for Christmas! I love it when patrons give me free reign. I was completely free to choose the subject, colours and composition on this one so I had heaps of fun, although I still feel a little out of practice… Things are coming back to me but very slowly. I love Tamarack trees so this painting was mostly inspired by the colour they change in the fall. I do hope you enjoy seeing a bit more of the process and if I don’t get back on here again before the holidays I hope your Christmas is full of goodness and joy!!!
Finally! A new painting to share. Actually I’ve been struggling with the health stuff again in the past couple of months and have only recently recovered enough to begin to start painting. I was able to keep up with drawing as I could do that in bed or on the couch but being up to paint was a bit to hard. I have to say that I’m super excited to be well enough to start again and though I’m a little out of practice I managed to pull this small piece together. It’s really just a concoction of my imagination and apparently my imagination is fairly colourful. ;P
