This new little one is a little bit of a departure from my usual rainbow bright colour palette but I really like the earthy tones here. It’s also a bit more detailed than anything I’ve done recently but I think that the details were a good direction and I had so much fun exploring the light and water reflections. I’m always so thrilled when the crocuses pop out at my back door in early spring. They bring me joy and hope for warmer days. As stated in my title this is a new “old” painting and what I mean by that is I actually reworked an older piece which I was not all that happy with. I created this painting last year but was never 100% satisfied with the result – the colours were too neon and just not rich enough. Although I liked the movement and shapes within it I couldn’t bring myself to like it as a whole. So I set to work this week trying to resurrect it… It turned out to be a bigger project than I anticipated – ha – I practically repainted the whole thing… Anyway, in the end I think I like it better. It’s slightly more representational (which wasn’t the plan… sometimes paintings just have a mind of their own) but I do really like the richer tones.
Thoughts? Which one do you like better?
