This blog has been sadly neglected for a long while due to injury and illness. My creative attention and focus was shifted into illustration and writing because they were something I was physically able to do. I am still unable … Continue reading
Finished up this little guy this morning. It’s inspired from a drawing I did a few years ago during some difficult health struggles. In my sketch book I titled the drawing ‘To See’ and I don’t quite remember why, something that made sense at the time, but now I think I’ll just call it ‘Seen’. A past tense – a feeling of finally being on the other side of it all. 🙂
This painting is available to purchase, contact me if you’re interested.
This new little one is a little bit of a departure from my usual rainbow bright colour palette but I really like the earthy tones here. It’s also a bit more detailed than anything I’ve done recently but I think that the details were a good direction and I had so much fun exploring the light and water reflections. This painting is available for sale and if you’re interested in seeing other paintings I currently have available please CLICK HERE!
Have you ever heard the phrase, ‘Life bites and life kisses’? I only just heard it recently and it’s truth stuck with me… I wanted to find a way to express it visually and the best form that came to my mind was an abstract. In the end though this painting may just evoke feelings of summer waves and ocean days – hee hee – but my original concept was the life quote. I suppose it’s best to leave the interpretation up to the viewer anyway. 😀
Happy Wednesday friends!
Finally! A new painting to share. Actually I’ve been struggling with the health stuff again in the past couple of months and have only recently recovered enough to begin to start painting. I was able to keep up with drawing as I could do that in bed or on the couch but being up to paint was a bit to hard. I have to say that I’m super excited to be well enough to start again and though I’m a little out of practice I managed to pull this small piece together. It’s really just a concoction of my imagination and apparently my imagination is fairly colourful. ;P
Hello friends! Just in case you happen to be traveling through the Creston Valley this summer and you need to stop for a bite, my install is still up at Break In Time Cafe (downtown Creston BC). I’ll actually be installing a new large piece up in there tomorrow as well. Hope you get a chance to stop in!
I’ve really been enjoying and focusing on developing my illustrative skills lately so I can’t resist sharing with you some of my recent work in that area. I hope you are all enjoying your summer??? So far our weather has been mild and lovely! Heading out camping at the end of July – R&R time here we come! 😀

I’ve been working on this commission for a few weeks and finally managed to pull it together today! This scene is inspired by Chania, Crete. The couple who commissioned this piece vacationed here on their honeymoon and this painting is an anniversary celebration.
I’ve always struggled with buildings… Typically I prefer painting nature because nothing is entirely straight. 😉 In nature everything is forgiving in form and organically flexible. When I attempt buildings I panic over their rigidity. This is only the second time I’ve ever painted buildings and my first attempt was a very similar scene right out of the same country.
Here’s hoping you enjoy seeing the progress of this one – Happy Monday friends!
I was teaching a sweet little student of mine about watercolour painting the other day and got inspired to play around with it again myself. I used to do a lot of watercolour work in the past until I moved onto acrylics. It was fun to revisit this medium again though. I hope you enjoy this little birch grove.
Morning friends! Another little light study illustration for ya. This was a bit of a departure for me since it’s an indoor scene. Well kind of an indoor/outdoor scene – I really wanted to try raindrop on a window.
Hope you all have a lovely day even though it’s Monday!
