SOOOOOOO – the sun is brightly shining today BUT my sweet little model has come down with a cough and a cold – poor girl. 😦 So we need to postpone the ‘trust’ photo challenge until she is better. I thought I would pick out the next challenge anyway and then maybe, just maybe next week you’ll have the bonus of TWO photo challenges in one week!
Drum roll please…. my next photo challenge is… ‘CLOUD NINE’ – submitted by Jody. Oh fun! Putting my thinking cap on now.
Hoping you all have a lovely weekend friends!
Pssssst… maybe I’ll manage to also finish up the big commission piece I’m working on too and then it’ll be THREE posts in one week – whoa! Here’s hoping! 😉
The More the Merrier! HA! Maybe for skiers!!! Sigh… I did manage to find some beautiful things to photograph in the midst of all this white stuff but I have to admit that I hated the snow this week… 😦 I say, BRING ON SPRING!
Next week’s challenge was submitted by Lisa – ‘FORGIVENESS’. Hmmm… feeling a little nervous… I have no idea what forgiveness could look like. See ya next week!
Years ago during one of our homeschool sessions my daughter and I learned about forests and rain-forests. We loved the topic and spent a whole week focusing on it. However, my little girl was quite saddened to learn that the forests were disappearing and that the environment was suffering as a result. When it comes to environmental issues I always feel rather helpless, the only way I knew how to comfort my daughter was to suggest that we pray about it. Hannah agreed that praying for the environment was good but she suggested that we should also pray for our own bit of forest too. During our research we learned that some wealthier folks had actually bought portions of forest and rain-forest to personally protect themselves. I never dreamed that her little prayer would come true but in 2010 when we purchased our farm we acquired 15 acres of forest with it! Our forest is pretty small but we cherish it and we are super grateful for the opportunity to protect it.
Maybe if we cherished our world just a little more it would suffer a little less…?
The gallery attached here features photos I’ve taken in our little forest this past week and a few are from the past year. Enjoy!
So funny enough… I did the draw for next week’s photo challenge and it was actually submitted by me! Yes, I put one into the hat too – I couldn’t resist! 😉 So tune in next week for “The More the Merrier“.
My photo challenge this week was ‘Dance in the Rain’ (submitted by Ginny) and I actually thought that interpreting this one literally would be super fun but I ran out of time to organize it – sometimes one week just isn’t enough time! I probably should have come up with a simpler alternative plan but I didn’t… So here I am, Wednesday is upon me and I have no more time left… OOPS!
Well, I cheat of course!
Wait before you judge me though – this kind of cheating can be fun! I think you still might enjoy the rainy little collection of images that I gathered up. 🙂
Next week’s photo challenge is ‘CHERISH’ – submitted by Leigh. Sounds like this one could be sweet! Tune in next Wednesday. 🙂
This is a little scene from Hampshire, England. No, I’ve never been to Hampshire but my fellow Instagramer, Ian Asher – @ianasher lives there and I asked his permission to use this photo as inspiration for my painting. If you have a minute you really should check out his feed – it’s full of captivating landscapes and nature photography.
This painting was actually a bit of a departure for me as I rarely paint buildings and it turned out much less stylized than my usual work but I think I like it. I am happy with the contrast and light play. (FYI – paintings always look so much better in person than in photos.)
Thanks again to Ian Asher for lending me his photo! 🙂
In 2010 my family and I purchased a plot of farm land in beautiful British Columbia and we daily enjoy the gift that it is to live here. We raise pigs, meat birds and laying hens – all of which we harvest and sell locally. In addition to our harvest animals we have barn cats, a loveable pooch and a couple of horses. I love gardening and although I sometimes wish that I had more time to focus in this area I do manage to plant and harvest enough goodies to get the four of us most of the way through the winter. And I just can’t resist flowers so I putter away at a couple flower beds out front and enjoy their colourful displays throughout the summer. I’m sure as time goes by you’ll see more of our little farm pictured here but for now I just wanted to share a little bit of the beauty (and cuteness) – I hope you enjoy! 🙂
I’m leaving you with a crazy collage of images from our home and a bit of craziness from me and mine as well. 😉
Thanks for stopping by!

I spent 15 very busy years as a professional portrait and wedding photographer but in 2011 I closed my business. This decision was made so that I could have more time at home with my family and more time for art (of all kinds). Honestly though, I really do miss all you lovely folks who supported my photography business over those years – I’m sending out great warmth to you all!!! ❤
I haven’t given up taking pictures though, and I am enjoying the opportunities I now have to explore this medium in new ways. Attached here are some examples of the fun I’ve been having and I promise there is more to come!
